Starting the 2023 Pea Season

It has been quite a difficult start to the campaign as March was very wet, making up for the exceptionally dry months of January and February. This made it difficult to start sowing on the early ground, but, by the time of writing (May 16th) nature has allowed us to catch up and almost 65% has now been completed. The designated ending of the sowing season is around June 20th and this, when co-ordinated with the factory’s available processing and freezing capacity, will allow a seamless and extended harvesting period.

SBP Ltd looks at using different maturing varieties and geographical data to arrive at a drilling program which is hatched on paper. The pre-emergence herbicide follows straight after rolling and hopefully, that’s it until harvest.
